The Grundel 900 is a sturdy sailboat 9 meters long and 3.10 meters wide. She was built of steel in 1970. With a draft of 80 cm and a headroom of 2.45 meters with the mast down, this boat is suitable for inland waters as well as lakes, ponds, rivers, canals and ditches. The articulated bilge design and single rudder construction with tiller make her agile and suitable for many sailing trips.

Inside, the boat offers comfortable accommodations. Present is a dinette, pillows and mattresses for two permanent berths. The headroom inside is 1.90 meters, which is sufficient for easy movement on board. Furthermore, the boat has a practical kitchen with a two-burner gas stove, an outdoor sink with tap water faucet. In addition, there are various storage options.

The engine is an electric starting diesel engine provides propulsion when the sails are not in use. A diesel heater in the cabin provides comfort during cooler sailing trips. Outside on the boat is a removable stovepipe for optimum safety while sailing. For navigation and communication, a copper compass and a VHF radio are provided, although the latter has yet to be registered.

The sailing gear consists of a main mast with a mainsail, jib and jib, all in ready-to-use condition. A retractable jib boom improves sailing performance and makes maneuvering easier. Heavy-duty winches in the cockpit and a large roof hatch add functionality and comfort aboard.

Although the boat has some minor flaws and past neglected maintenance, her structural integrity is well preserved. Recently treated with antifouling and with a measured plate thickness of 3 and 4 mm, she remains a solid choice for lovers of classic sailing yachts.
