The American shipyard Bayliner was founded in 1957 by Orin Edson. Specialising in the construction of motor and sailing pleasure boats - under the brand name US Yachts - and very popular with the general public, the manufacturer was bought in 1986 by the American group Brunswick, a world leader in the pleasure boat industry.
