Santorin: the offshore sailboat
Produced by the Amel Company between 1989 and 1997, the Santorin is "the" benchmark in the world of offshore navigation. Extremely functional and very safe, this boat is built to take you anywhere all over the world thanks to its category 1 classification as an offshore cruising sailboat.
The exterior features a central cockpit with a sprayhood and a faux teak deck made with synthetic slats. The long fore and aft catwalks and guard lines provide maximum safety. There is a sundeck behind the cockpit, the perfect place to relax and catch some rays. The sugar scoop stern is situated at the aft starboard side. Mooring is Mediterranean style with a fixed gangway.
The interior of the boat is designed for offshore cruising. The boat features a great deal of stowage space and a well-arranged engine room. The portside L-shaped galley faces a large U-shaped saloon. It is equipped with a table that can sit 6 and offers plenty of storage space. The cabins are located forward and aft. There is 1 bathroom and 1 toilet.
From the performance standpoint, the boat is equipped with a bow thruster, which is extremely useful when docking in port. When powered by the engine, the cruising speed is 7.1 knots. With the sails, the boat can reach 10 knots at a broad reach and 8 knots close-hauled.
