About Salona Yachts
Anyone who has ever sailed along the Dalmatian or Croatian coast won't be surprised to learn that Split is home to a high-class shipyard.
Split's coastline is home to hundreds of inhabited and uninhabited islands and islets, which create an exceptional landscape for sailing.
Croatians have been building sailboats since the dawn of time; the Salona shipyard is part of this tradition.
Founded in 2002 in Split, the city that served as a Roman palace, Salona yachts are designed to be sporty, comfortable and safe. In that very order. The order is important; when you buy a Salona, you're not buying a floating motorhome but a thoroughbred racing cruiser.
In terms of construction technology, Salona boats are made using vacuum infusion techniques and are equipped with a type of stainless steel spine that stiffens and strengthens their weaker points.
However, this unique market positioning has prevented the shipyard from moving forward and has limited its expansion. Buyers who turn their backs on mass production do so in favour of "luxury"-oriented shipyards (X-Yacht, Grand Soleil) and shipyards who project a premium image, much to the detriment of shipyards such as Salona, which produces yachts that are both sportier and made to a higher standard, deliberately intended to avoid falling into the "luxury" category.
The shipyard frequently produces very high quality sailboats, such as the Salona 38 and Salona 44. The impressive Salona 46 is particularly noteworthy: an all-electric boat equipped with an Oceanvolt system capable of providing 6 hours of engine autonomy at 6 knots.
Exceptionally beautiful boats.
