The First 30 JK, inspired by ocean racing!
Released in 2010, the JK had the heavy task of succeeding the various versions of the First 30, one of Bénéteau's most successful series. This design benefited from the experience of Michel Desjoyaux and the talent of Juan Kouyoumdjian, well known for his work on the Volvo Open 70's. With its very wide stern and chine at waterline level, the hull is very modern. The two rudders are positioned very close to the outer corners of the transom, while the thin keel features a torpedo bulb that is very far forward. The rigging has also been carefully considered with a gaff-rigged main sail and a genoa with a strong overlap for a sail surface upwind of 63 m². The mast (carbon optional) is adjusted by a strong backstay. This gives you all the ingredients for a high-performance boat!The cockpit is welcoming and an extension allows the helmsperson to feel comfortable, whatever position they go for. The mainsheet traveller on the rear of the vehicle provides free space for manoeuvring. As is customary on modern boats, the cockpit is divided into two distinct areas, one dedicated to manoeuvring and the other to lounging. This prevents team members and passengers from interfering with each other.The interior of the First 30 JK is quite plush for a boat inspired by ocean racing, and the light-coloured wood creates a beautiful harmony. There is not much storage space and some of the equipment, such as the saloon table, is designed to remain on land when racing.
